Winners!

The winners of this term’s Dragon and Secret Club competitions have been decided! Here are the fantastic winning entries:

Dragon Club

The Dragon Club competition this term was “What book would you like to be a character in and why?”

Tom from Kensington Primary School said:

“I would like to be a character in a Zac Power book (by H I Larry) because I want to be friends with him and be a secret agent too. Zac has cool adventures and lots of gadgets. I would like to go on adventures and get all the gadgets. Zac is a good guy and I want to help him save the world”.

Congratulations Tom. It would definitely be awesome to be a character in a Zac Power book!

Tani from South Perth Primary said:

“I would like to be Snoopy in the “Make Way for the King of the Jungle” book because he has lots of cookies, pizza and jam donuts”.

Congratulations Tani, that sounds delicious!

Secret Club

The Secret Club competition this term was to write a poem or story about a monster.

This is Peter from Wesley College’s poem:

Some of you see monsters as big and scary

but maybe a bit plump.

Maybe you see monsters as fat and hairy

and make a gigantic thump.

Some monsters can be real

but some are imaginary.

But you don’t want to be in their meal

to them you taste like dairy.

Maybe you can make up one

you could call it Frater.

But you could make it anyone

but, for now, see you later.

Congratulations Peter! Your poem is very creative and I like the rhymes!

Here is Isabella from St Columba’s poem:

Monsters are really cool and awesome.

Oh! Monsters are scary. Really scary.

Not all, awesome, monsters live in caves.

Some monsters look funny.

Tree monsters are cool because they have trees on top of their heads.

Eating is what monsters love to do.

Really cool that’s what monsters are.

Some monsters are so cool that they have lights hanging over their heads.

Congratulations Isabella! Splight definitely thinks he’s really cool with his light hanging over his head!

Frogs and Dragons and Secrets Oh My!!

The Frogs and Dragons have been celebrating!

Last week the 2009 Frogs went wild at our Where The Wild Things Are party. After we had all attached our tails and transformed into Wild Things we had a Wild Rumpus – with bubbles and street art and races, until we were all tired out and went back inside for a snack.

Today, it was the 2009 Dragons turn to party! We did fantastic dragon street art, played crazy party games and had tasty snacks while the Grand Dragon read us the first chapter of Kumiko And The Dragon (The author Briony Stewart is coming to the library next school holidays!)

And now, we are ready for 2010!

This year there will be…

Frogs – Just for Year 1 Kids

Dragons – For kids in Year 2, 3 and 4

And BRAND NEW
